Gender integration in the health sector is recognised as a critical need at the national and international level. This manual addresses the need to develop gender sensitive indicators to measure the gender sensitivity in health programmes.

The usefulness of gender indicators lies in their ability to assess changes in the status and roles of women and men and thus measure whether gender equality is being achieved.
