Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant. You are expected to play a pivotal role in managing our financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

CHETNA AN APEX NGO OF 40 YEAR STANDING IS LOOKING FOR A DEPUTY DIRECTOR TO BE LOCATED AT AHMEDABAD, IN CHETNA’s HEAD OFFICE

With expansion of CHETNA’s activities, the organisation needs asocial sector professional to fill the position of a Deputy Director.This is a senior level appointment involving designing newer projects, raising funds, carrying out and monitoring on- going projects.  The successful candidate would report to the Director.

Essential qualifications needed:

  • The applicant should have a Post Graduate degree of from a stream connected with nutrition, health and education and related experience. Candidates with the following qualifications may also apply:
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health and Rural Management.
  • Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery – BAMS, Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery – BHMS, or MBBS.

Fluency and writing ability in English and Hindi would be essential. Working knowledge of Gujarati/Rajasthani would be an added asset.

Preferred additional background

  • Expertise and experience in carrying out community based projects.
  • Having attended a certified training course on gender and women’s empowerment, communication and finance would be an asset.

Attributes and skills needed:

  • Ability to show initiative and enthusiasm.
  • A positive approach.
  • Ability to get on with people within the organisation and to work collaboratively with professional partners and field teams.

Experiencerequired:

  • Minimum 5 years experience at an executive level working in a reputed organisation and evidence of having worked in one or more focus areas of CHETNA.
  • Conversance with how field programmes are designed, implemented and monitored.

Major Responsibilities:

The responsibility of the Deputy Director will include or but not limited to following:

  1. Assist the Director with organisational functions of CHETNA as assigned.
  2. Represent CHETNA at different forums including at discussions with senior Government officers, senior representatives of Non Government Organisations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) organisations, faculty from academic institutions as well as scientists, statisticians from research institutes.
  3. Undertake tours toCHETNA’s project areas in different states to coordinate and monitor ongoing workand guide the field team in consultation with the Director. She / he would need to prepare an actionable summary of each field visit and initiate necessary action/ interventions and seek approval for implementing the same.
  4. Provide leadership to various activities, look after general administration, help in various compliances, fund raising, team building.
  5. After orientation, the person would independently organise training programmes and develop CHETNA’s publications and training material. During the interview, the candidate’s capacity and skill to perform needed functions would be assessed.

About CHETNA

The organisation has been working in the area of health and nutrition of under privileged women and children for the last nearly 40 years.  The focus has been on reproductive health, malnutrition and fulfilling allied developmental goals. The needs of adolescents and marginalized young people are also included among CHETNA’s projects under implementation.

Focus Area of CHETNA:

  • Addressing and preventing under nutrition including anaemia among children, adolescents and women
  • Early Childhood Education and school readiness.
  • Improving reproductive and sexual health knowledge and practices of women, adolescents and young people.
  • Identification of marginalised communities and improving their access to health care services and nutrition.
  • Supporting state governments and non- government organisations in strengthening their service delivery systems.

Remuneration: Rs.80,000 to Rs1,00,000/-

 Duration of appointment: Initially the appointment will be for one year, extendable after the performance review.

 Preference will be given to women candidates.

  • The person recruited will work directly under the supervision of the Director but must be able to show capabilitiesof working independently in assigned areas.
