Supporting transformation of Rural India


CHETNA has joined hands with Transform Rural India Foundation (TRIF) to build capacities of thematic expert NGO (T- NGO) for strengthening the local women’s institute (Self Help Groups) in partnership with State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) in Madhya Pradesh. The project is being implemented in six blocks- Amarpur and Samnapur of Dindori district; Thandla and Petlawad of Jhabua district, Manawar block of Dhar and Sondwa blocks of Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The project activities aim to bring out the positive change among the community and to empower them. The three year project began in October 2018.

At the community level, SHG members interested in taking action on health and nutrition issues will be identified through a visioning process. A total of 840 women volunteers recognized as ‘Women with Wisdom’ from 420 villages will be trained to bring about a ripple effect of change by engaging with other self help group members. The Cluster Level Federation members will be strengthened to develop an action plan focusing on health and nutrition issues in their respective clusters. The project also aims to strengthen Village Health and Nutrition Days will ensure registration of pregnancies, four ante-natal checkups, institutional deliveries and improvement in nutrition status of women and children.
