CHETNA is partnering with the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) an organisation who builds self-reliant rural communities through women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods, to strengthen women’s leadership in improving community health and nutrition. Through this collaboration, Self-Help Group (SHG) members are being trained as change makers to raise awareness, promote healthy practices, and take charge of their own and their families’ well-being.
The initiative equips women with knowledge and skills on key health and nutrition issues, including maternal and child health, balanced diets, hygiene, and access to government schemes.
Over time, these women have created their own identity as community leaders. They are now engaging in dialogue with Panchayat representatives, block officials, and frontline workers to advocate for sustainable changes and improvements in the quality of public health and nutrition services.
The efforts are being implemented across Gujarat and Bihar, empowering rural women to lead the way towards healthier families and stronger, more informed communities.
