National Blindness and Visual Impairment Survey India (2015-19) reported that prevalence of blindness in population aged ≥ 50 years is higher among the rural than urban population. Similarly, it is higher among the people who have not gone through formal education than that of formally literate population. Main Causes of blindness are Cataract, Refractive Error, Corneal Blindness, Glaucoma and other critical disorders.
Some common Eye problems among Indians are eye strain, refractive errors, Dry Eye Syndrome, Night blindness, Conjunctivitis.[1] There are enough evidences that timely intervention helps in prevention of blindness.
To create awareness about eye care, timely diagnosis of eye problems, measure nutritional status (Body Mass Index) and blood haemoglobin level CHETNA is organizing eye camps in the rural area of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
Objectives:
Reach: It is estimated that 30 blocks of 180 villages and more than 30000 people will be benefited from this project.
