For over 30 years, CHETNA has been creating awareness among adolescent girls about bodily processes and menstruation through its training programmes and community-based interventions. Building on these sustained efforts, this work evolved into a focused campaign in 2020, titled “Red Achchha Hai.”
The campaign aims to normalize conversations about menstruation and promote menstrual health with pride and positivity. It challenges stigma and myths surrounding periods by encouraging adolescents, parents, and communities to see menstruation as a natural and healthy process — not something to hide or be ashamed of.
Through interactive workshops, creative communication materials, and community outreach, the campaign builds awareness about menstrual hygiene, safe practices, and the need for supportive environments in homes, schools, and workplaces.
By celebrating red as a symbol of health and strength, “Red Achchha Hai” empowers girls to take pride in their bodies and encourages communities to uphold every woman’s right to manage her menstruation with dignity.
CHETNA has reached more than 25,000 girls through this campaign, fostering awareness on menstruation and gender equality. Recently, as part of the campaign, CHETNA has also begun sensitizing boys about gender equality.
Let’s talk periods with pride!
Red is Natural. Red is Powerful. Red Achchha Hai.
