Project Period: 2023—2026
Location: 12 villages, 7 villages from Dahod district of Gujarat and 5 villages from Banswara district of Rajasthan State, India
Nutritional anaemia is a critical global public health issue that significantly impacts young children, menstruating adolescent girls and women, as well as pregnant and postpartum women. According to NFHS-5 data, every second woman (ages 15-49) in India is anaemic. The situation is even more severe in certain states, with 57% of women in Rajasthan and 65% in Gujarat suffering from anaemia. In Dahod, the prevalence reaches a staggering 75.1%, far exceeding the state average for Gujarat. Similarly, in Banswara, 52.8% of women are affected by anaemia, highlighting the widespread nature of this health problem. Addressing nutritional anaemia is crucial for improving the health and well-being of these vulnerable populations.
CHETNA is implementing an intervention aimed at preventing anaemia and improving access to healthcare services. This initiative focuses on raising awareness among adolescent girls, as well as pregnant, lactating, and newly married women in 12 villages across Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Overall Objective
To reduce prevalence of nutritional anaemia among the adolescent girls and women in reproductive age group- specifically pregnant, lactating and newly married women of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
